What Oligio is and how it works
Oligio is a monopolar radiofrequency device made by Wontech in South Korea. Monopolar means the energy travels from the handpiece deep through the tissue and exits at a return pad on the body, so it reaches far deeper than bipolar devices that stay in the superficial skin.
At 6.78 MHz the electromagnetic field reverses polarity nearly seven million times per second. Charged molecules in the tissue vibrate and generate heat from inside the tissue itself, which does two things: existing collagen fibres contract immediately, and fibroblasts are triggered to build new collagen for the next 2 to 6 months.
Oligio compared with Ultraformer III
This is the most common question, and the honest answer is that they are not competitors — they solve different problems.
Oligio (RF) spreads gentle, even heat at around 40 to 45 °C across the whole dermis. Best for skin that feels loose in texture, enlarged pores and a general lack of firmness.
Ultraformer III (HIFU) focuses intense heat at 60 to 70 °C into tiny points down at the SMAS layer. Best for a sagging jawline and a double chin — it lifts.
Most people past their mid-thirties have both problems at once, which is why we offer a combined package. See Ultraformer III pricing.
Oligio compared with Thermage
Both are monopolar RF at the same 6.78 MHz frequency. Thermage, from Solta Medical in the United States, is the original device in this category; Oligio is a newer Korean machine using the same principle.
Results are therefore very similar. The real differences are price — Oligio is considerably more accessible — the sensation during treatment, and above all the skill of the person holding the handpiece.
Who it suits — and who should avoid it
Suitable for skin that is losing firmness but not yet visibly sagging, enlarged pores and rough texture, shallow lines not deep enough for filler, anyone who finds HIFU too uncomfortable, and people with a lean face where HIFU risks fat loss.
Not suitable for anyone with a pacemaker or implanted electronic device, metal implants in the face such as a bone plate, pregnancy, active infection or open wounds at the site, or advanced sagging where RF alone will not be enough.
What to expect, and when
Treatment takes 20 to 45 minutes depending on shot count. The sensation is warm and wave-like, considerably more comfortable than HIFU, and usually does not require numbing cream.
Skin feels tighter immediately. New collagen peaks at 2 to 3 months, and results last around 1 to 1.5 years.
Aftercare
- Mild redness or warmth for a few hours is normal.
- Avoid sauna, steam and very hot showers for 3 to 5 days.
- No exfoliating acids or retinol for 5 to 7 days.
- Daily SPF 30 or higher — UV directly destroys the new collagen.
- Contact us if redness does not settle within 2 days, or if you develop blistering or widespread numbness.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does Oligio cost in Chiang Mai?
At Veluxe Clinic: 100 shots ฿3,590, 200 shots ฿6,999, 300 shots ฿9,999, 400 shots ฿12,900, 500 shots ฿16,900 and 600 shots ฿18,900. There is also a combined package of Oligio 100 shots plus Ultraformer III 100 shots for ฿4,999, normally ฿7,999.
Oligio or Ultraformer III — which should I choose?
Choose Oligio if your concern is skin that lacks firmness, enlarged pores or rough texture. Choose Ultraformer III if your concern is a sagging jawline or double chin. If you have both, combining them gives the best result.
Is it painful?
It feels like warm waves across the skin, similar to a hot stone massage. It is clearly more comfortable than HIFU and most patients need no numbing cream.
How often can I repeat it?
Every 6 to 12 months. Treating more frequently does not improve results because the skin needs time to complete a full collagen remodelling cycle.
Can I combine it with Botox or filler?
Yes, and it is a common combination. We usually perform Oligio first and wait 1 to 2 weeks before injecting, so the heat does not affect the injected product.
