What Ultraformer III is and how it works
Ultraformer III uses focused ultrasound energy to create tiny coagulation points at a precise depth beneath the skin, without damaging the surface. The tissue contracts immediately, then builds new collagen over the following months.
Its advantage over radiofrequency devices is depth. The 4.5 mm transducer reaches the SMAS — the fibromuscular layer a surgeon tightens during a facelift. No topical treatment and no radiofrequency device can reach it.

How many shots do I need
200 shots — one concern only, such as jawline definition or a double chin.
300 shots — cheeks, jawline and under-chin together. The most commonly chosen package.
400 shots — full face including forehead or eye area.
600 shots — full face and neck, the most complete option in a single session.
Too few shots spread over too large an area produces a disappointing result. Your doctor would rather treat a smaller area properly than spread the energy thin.
Who it suits — and who should avoid it
Suitable for mild to moderate facial laxity, a softening jawline, early jowls, a double chin and neck laxity, typically from the mid-thirties onward.
Not suitable for people who are pregnant, have severe laxity that genuinely needs surgery, have metal implants or an electronic implant in the treatment zone, have an active skin infection, or have very little facial fat — in that case radiofrequency is the safer choice.
What to expect, and when
Treatment takes 30 to 60 minutes depending on shot count. You will feel brief heat and a prickling sensation as each line is delivered; most people tolerate it without numbing cream, but we offer it.
You will see a tightening effect immediately from collagen contraction. The real result builds over 2 to 3 months as new collagen forms, and lasts around 12 to 18 months.
Aftercare
- Mild redness or warmth is normal and settles within hours.
- Avoid sauna, steam and very hot showers for 3 to 5 days.
- No exfoliating acids or retinol for 5 to 7 days.
- Daily SPF 30 or higher — UV destroys the collagen you have just paid to build.

Ultraformer III uses focused ultrasound to reach the deep SMAS layer, so it lifts. Oligio and Thermage use monopolar radiofrequency, which heats the dermis broadly, so they tighten and smooth. Lifting and tightening are different problems; many patients benefit from both.
Is it painful?
You feel heat and a prickling sensation in bursts as each line is delivered, strongest over bony areas. It is brief and most patients tolerate it well. Tell your doctor at any point and the energy can be adjusted.
